Phlagleblast
Established in 2000, Phlagleblast is an annual event in which the University Union showcases all of the great vendors, offices and services the Union has to offer. Phlagleblast is held the second week of each Fall semester. The Phlagleblast game allows students, staff, and faculty to familiarize them with the Union. As visitors enter the building, they are greeted and welcomed by our friendly staff with a happy smile and a game card. Participants then visit each vendor, office or program on the game card and receive a stamp and other information and useful goodies such as highlighters, pens, post-its, and many other school supplies. Once their game card is complete, they submit it to the prize table and are automatically entered into a raffle to win grand prizes and a ton of other cool and free stuff including meal vouchers. Just by completing the game card fully, each participant will receive either a collectors’ t-shirt. Everyone can play, but only current Sac State students can win grand prizes. Sac State looks forward to Phlagleblast each year to see what theme has been chosen, what exciting entertainment has been planned for the day, and what cool over-the-top prizes will be given away. This is a fun and free event- if you are a Sac State student, you should never miss it!

Wish Upon A Star Gift Drive
The University Union sponsors an annual gift drive each Fall that benefits Sunburst Project. The Sunburst Project is an organization that creates safe and supportive communities for children, youth and families living with HIV/AIDS in Sacramento. A heartwarming display of stars with children’s wishes, ranging from newborns to 18 year olds, is set-up from mid-November thru early December in the University Union’s and The WELL’s main lobbies each year. All faculty, staff, students and community members are welcome to pick a star(s) with a wish, purchase the gift and return the gift prior to the due date.

Blood Drives
The University Union hosts an annual Causeway Classic Blood Drive in the Fall. Sacramento State and UC Davis compete to see who can give the most life-saving donations. Donate blood, join the “Be The Match” registry, or give a Power Red donation. All donors receive a free t-shirt while supplies last. Open to students, faculty, staff, and the public.
