Unique Programs

About

U.N.I.Q.U.E. = Union Network for Innovative & Quality University Entertainment.

UNIQUE Programs is the University Union’s student volunteer programming board that brings innovative, quality entertainment to campus. Student volunteers work hard each semester to plan, promote and produce all UNIQUE events. Created in 1978, UNIQUE’s central goal is to create outstanding entertainment and educational opportunities that take place in the University Union. Started with one professional staff member and a handful of students putting on comedy shows and special events. Has grown to produce concerts, mid-week Noon concerts (Noon Live), lectures, performing arts, drag shows, comedy shows, cultural programs, dance nights and other entertainment. UNIQUE currently has one full time Programs Advisor and a part-time student Programs Assistant, plus 30+ Sac State student volunteers.

The success of UNIQUE depends on the dedication of its volunteers. New and returning members bring a vast amount of creativity and energy to the program. No experience required and there is no minimum number of hours needed. UNIQUE is a great way to get to know other students while having a great time being involved in hosting events.

We meet Mondays at Noon and Tuesdays at Noon in The University Union to plan and discuss upcoming events. You can choose the meeting that best fits your schedule.

We typically schedule events between 2 months and a year or more in advance, so please keep in mind that bookings for events in the very near furture are unlikely. We are also out of session most of December and January and rarely produce events June through August.

While there is no set formula for how we choose performers, the following factors are considered:

  • Does the artist have a record of performing professionally?
  • Are the materials presented to us of high quality?
  • How much of a draw/following/name recognition does the artist have?
  • Is the type/style of performance something that we have been looking for or that most people don’t frequently get a chance to see/hear?
  • What financial expenses and security risks are involved?

The best way to show interest in performing for us is to fill out the form below. Please be aware that we receive a high volume of requests, and while we would love to meet with everyone, our main focus is on producing programs for the campus. We cannot meet with or respond to everyone individually. We will contact you if we are interested, and we encourage you to include any important updates in your materials. Multiple follow-up calls or visits are not necessary and may delay the process.
